- In 1996, the Batie Science Center underwent major renovations; purchased from Fort Lewis for $100, it was originally a WWII-vintage surplus building that served as Blazer Hall beginning in 1947; originally it was located where the student center sits today, then relocated in 1962 where it housed first the electronics program, then a students activities building. When the Library was built in 1991, the building was relocated between Aadland Esplanade and Ehret Hall, renovated and named Batie Natural Science Center; from 1991 to 2007, it served as a learning resource for the residents of Lewis County as well as the students of Centralia College
