Notes

General Note:
The Literary Digest was an influential general interest weekly magazine published by Funk and Wagnalls. Founded by Isaac Kauffman Funk in 1890, it eventually merged with two similar weekly magazines, Public Opinion and Current Opinion. Sparked by fears brought on by events in Germany and Russia at the time, Rooting Out the Reds explores what happened in Centralia on November 11, 1919, stating that the Centralia outrage was the fearful penalty paid for the over-lenient policy of the National Government towards anarchists and murderous communists.
