Dale Hubbard, Warren O. Grimm, Arthur McElfresh and Ben Casagranda. Ernest Dale Hubbard was the nephew of timber entrepreneur F.W. Hubbard and served with the army engineers doing construction in France. He married just one month before he was shot and killed by Wesley Everest at the Skookumchuck River while trying to apprehend him. Warren Orth Grimm was appointed deputy prosecuting attorney after graduating from the University of Washington where he was a football star. Later he and his brother Huber became law partners and Warren became a contemporary of another young lawyer, Elmer Smith. He spent one year of duty with American forces fighting Bolsheviks in Siberia. On November 11, 1919 he was shot and killed, most likely by John Doe Davis who was never found or prosecuted for the death. Arthur McElfresh was a native Centralian who had fought in Meuse-Argonne in 1918. He returned to Centralia to open a retail store and was shot from either the Avalon Hotel or Seminary Hill. Ben Casagranda had served overseas and returned to open a shoeshine parlor. He was married and living in an apartment on Center Street. On November 11, 1919 he was shot and killed by Wesley Everest. John Watt who was with Casagranda at the time, was also shot but survived his injuries.
